Nature of Work: This is
an entry level position responsible for case
coordination of judicial activities in the Clerk's
Office of the Supreme Court of the Virgin
Islands. The Deputy Clerk I, under the supervision of
the Clerk of the Court, is responsible for
case dockets and case records, and recording all case events from opening to

Provides customer service including responding
to telephone inquiries, dealing with the public at the main counter, assisting
in the completion of various applications and forms, and responding to
Accepts and reviews court filings for
completeness and accuracy and maintains primary responsibility for case intake
in automated case management system.
Makes summary entries and performs data entry
for all documents and proceedings on the docket including, but not limited to,
pleadings, petitions, motions, orders, and record of proceedings.
Assists the Clerk of the Court in all aspects of
case management, including documenting, maintaining, recording and processing
of all case events from initial filing to resolution.
Prepares and transmits notices of orders,
judgments, and other relevant entries.
Identifies emergency motions and documents that
require special handling and refers them to the appropriate personnel.
Assists in ensuring timely and proper
preparation and distribution of cases to justices for consideration.
Monitors and screens all appeals prior to
hearing to ensure resolution of all procedural motions, timeliness of filings,
Assists in preparing and maintaining case
calendars and preparing hearing schedules.
Assists in the compilation of statistical
information from court records.
Provides administrative and clerical assistance

High school diploma and at least two (2)
years general clerical experience, with court specific
or legal clerical experience preferred.
Fluency in Spanish is helpful but not required.
